Better Planning Workshops

The Center for Regional Development at MORPC will be hosting workshops, forums, seminars, and webinars on a diverse array of planning topics. This is a great opportunity for continuing education and keeping up on the latest planning trends. Many offerings may also count towards your AICP, AIA, or ASLA continuing education requirements.

All Better Planning Workshop Series are free to MORPC members. Non-member price is $10.

Public Regional Mobility Authority Presentation

MORPC is hosting a Regional Mobility Authority Presentation and panel discussion from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9 at the Ohio Department of Transportation's Central Office Auditorium, 1980 West Broad Street, Columbus. Philip Russell, Assistant Executive Director for the Innovative Project Development at the Texas Department of Transportation is the scheduled speaker.

Update on Trip Generation Research Efforts Web Briefing

Background: The ITE Trip Generation Handbook, a recommended practice on application of trip generation, provides a starting point to reflect means by which vehicle trip generation rates can be affected by density and diversity. Current research is examining how these rates are also affected by transit proximity and regional accessibility. The Web briefing is sponsored by ITE Transportation Planning Council and will provide presentations on the current research related to trip generation rates at transit oriented development, mixed-use developments and influences from other land use variables.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:

1) Discuss status of the state-of-the-practice in trip generation research
2) Identify land use and transportation variables that influence vehicle trip generation rates
3) List unique characteristics of trip generation of mixed use developments
4) Apply the basic procedure for estimating internal capture

Intended Audience: Traffic engineers, transportation engineers, consultants and persons responsible for conducting or evaluating traffic impact analysis
